Ultimate Practice Schedule + Pre-State Pasta Dinner – Friday, May 29 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Congratulations to all of our Seniors on their graduation from high school!  We hope everyone had time with their families and friends to remember those special people in our lives this Memorial Day Weekend.  We have an exciting week ahead of us with the last week of practice, the Pre-State Pasta Dinner and the Minnesota High School State Championships.

Practice this week for all 3 teams at Discovery:

Varsity boys – Tuesday through Friday.  Practice time is after school until 6:00 pm, except on Friday practice will go until 5:15 so players can get to the Pasta Dinner by 5:30

Varsity girls – Tuesday through Friday.  Practice time is after school until 6:00 pm, except on Friday practice will go until 5:15 so players can get to the Pasta Dinner by 5:30

JV – Tuesday through Friday.  Practice time is after school until 5:30 pm, except on Friday practice will go until 5:15 so players can get to the Pasta Dinner by 5:30

Pre-State Pasta Dinner: 

Date:  Friday, May 29

Time:  5:30-8:30 p.m.    Eating at 5:30, plan to have your food at the park by 5:30 p.m.    Plan to pick up your athlete between 8:00 and 8:30 p.m.

Location:  Waite Park Community Park.  The address is 151 – 13th Avenue North in Waite Park and it is located near the Moose Lodge.

This is a potluck dinner for the team and coaches. We will need a few parents to help with set-up, chaperoning, and clean-up.

Minnesota State Tournament:  May 30-May 31 at the Blaine Sports Complex soccer fields (1700 105th Ave NE Blaine, MN 55449).  The bus will leave at 6:00 a.m. SHARP on Saturday and approximately the same time on Sunday, but will depend on where teams place as to what time we leave on Sunday.  The State Tournament bus signup is found at the following Sign Up Genius site:  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040c4faaa628a46-20155

End of Year Ultimate Potluck Picnic:  Tuesday, June 2 at 5:30 pm at Wilson Park.

The club will be providing the burgers, buns, condiments and paper products.  This is a potluck gathering for the team, coaches, families and alumni.  We will have dinner, followed by a program.  We encourage parents and siblings to be part of the fun, too!

Great job to all teams this weekend! There were 44 boys teams and 16 girls teams at the Hopkins Hustle. Boys varsity placed 16th, Girls placed 13th and  JV went 1-4 for the weekend. There was some very hard fought and long point games (34 for minutes for one point in one JV game!). CONGRATS TO WILL MEDVEC ON HIS CALLAHAN!!!! What’s a callahan? “It is the act of catching a disc on an interception in the opponent’s end zone by a defensive player for a point.”

**Next weekend** 

VARSITY: Varsity boys/girls will be traveling to Ames, IA for Centrals. The bus leaves CHS Friday, May 15th at 3:30 pm.  Permission slips and checks are due back by Tuesday, May 12th.   NO EXCEPTIONS! Check the USA Ultimate website for game times: http://play.usaultimate.org/events/Central-High-School-Regional-Championships-2015/

JV: JV will be going to Apple Valley on Saturday, May 16th and Sunday, May 17th. We do not have information yet on the schedule so JV parents look for another update later this week on game times and bus departure times. Weekly Update – 5/4-5/10

What a great GCC!! The weather was beautiful and all teams played very well! Varsity Girls placed 3rd, Varsity Boys placed 4th and JV placed 2nd!! A big thank you to all the Parent volunteers! GCC was a huge success due to countless hours put in by many people but especially Tim Vogt, our tournament director. Great job Tim! And check out the video on sctimes.com!

Up next is the Hopkins Hustle on Saturday May 9th and Sunday May 10th. Note – it’s NOT held in Hopkins! It is held at the Twin Cities Polo Grounds in Maple Plain. Due to the construction on Hwy 494 in the cities, we suggest traveling via Hwy 12. Here are directions from Cathedral: https://goo.gl/maps/t5dhN. The address of the Polo Grounds is Twin City Polo Club, 6755 Turner Road, Maple Plain, MN 55359. There are 67 teams signed up for this tournament. The schedule is not yet published so we will send another email later this week with the first games. They have food on site for lunch – usually hamburgers. As usual, field food of bagels and bananas will be available for players. There is usually peanut butter too but please be cognizant of our players with allergies.

IMPORTANT – We have too many players for one bus. We need to know if players will be riding the bus or riding with parents to determine if we need to schedule a second bus. Practice for the week of April 27th

Practice for the week:
Monday – NO PRACTICE
Tuesday – Discovery – after school until 5:30. Heritage Park Clean up from 5:30 to 6:30. Older players will make sure younger players get to Heritage Park from Discovery. Please pick up your player at Heritage Park at 6:30.
Wednesday – Discovery – 3:30 – 5:30 for boys, 4:00 – 6:00 for girls
Thursday – Discovery – 3:30 – 5:30 for boys, 4:00 – 6:00 for girls
Friday – Discovery – 3:30 – 5:30 for boys, 4:00 – 6:00 for girls
